Description: Craniofacial Biology Research List discourse centers
on the growth and development of the human head. Topics of
interest include queries, observations, and research reports on
normal craniofacial morphology, ontogeny (growth and development)
and teratology, as well as variation owing to gender, pathology,
or phylogeny. The discussion should be of interest to clinical
(plastic surgery, orthodontics, human genetics, epidemiology) and

Description: Oral Microbiology/Immunology Interest Group An
international forum for discussions of problems facing scientists
and clinicians that deal with human and mammalian oral microbiota
Microbiology discussions include the prevalence of, and diseases
caused by oral microbiota, physiology and genetics of virulence
factors, host response to pathogens and virulence factors,
autoimmune oral diseases, and the effects of aging on immune
response. This forum will also serve as a conduit between members
of professional societies that have Oral Microbiology and
Immunology interest Sections including the IADR/AADR, ASM, FEMS,
AAAS, and other groups. Announcement of coming events and public
pre-meeting organizational communications are encouraged.

Description: DENTST-L is an internet discussion list intended for
predoctoral and postdoctoral dental students at schools around
the world. The list originated with the idea to expose dental
students to the internet during their studies. The list also
encourages faculty from dental schools to join in order to
develop an electronic dialogue between students and teachers. One
of the goals of the list is to provide a first experience to
dental students in participating with discussion lists.
Initially, and periodically thereafter, postings on the list by
the list management will focus on the basics of the internet. As
such, the list will be used to deliver an electronic lecture in
conjunction with dental informatics courses. As the list
develops, another goal is to deliver dental content material in
an electronic lecture format.
The second purpose of the list is to serve as a platform for free
discussion. Possible topics may include, but are not limited to:
basic sciences in dentistry, clinical dentistry, technical
aspects of dentistry (materials, techniques), transition to
dental practice, board examinations, ethical issues in dentistry,
international dentistry.

The Bridge
Description: A free online information service for oral health
professionals. Among its offerings are forums on various dental
specialties, Internet e-mail, free dental classified ads, a
library of dental resources and listings of continuing education.
Dentists, hygienists, researchers and others in the field are
invited to make use of this resource.
Access: The Bridge can be dialed --no telnet yet-- at:
1(415)368-2778 with the usual telecommunications parameters of
8-N-1 at modem speeds of up to 14,400 bps. No special software is
needed though the system looks best if your software supports
ANSI colors and IBM graphics characters. The Bridge offers free
software for PC users that supports these features (plus ZMODEM)
and is pre-configured to dial the system. You can get uuencoded
copy via e-mail by sending a message to: ftp@dental.com with the
subject: get dialpgm.exe
QWK support allows long-distance callers to use an off-line mail
reader to read forum postings and e-mail while minimizing phone
charges. The Bridge offers several off-line readers for download
in the software libraries.

The Dental BBS
Description: This BBS is up and running 24 hours a day using
Searchlight BBS software. It is devoted to the discussion of
dental issues and questions. Current subboar ds include: Dental
Technical Questions, Dental Complaints (products/services),
Clinical Dental Problems, Dental Trends, New Dental Materials,
OHSA comments/concerns/questions, an m ore. There is one line
currently open and supports 1200-14400 baud.
